2001 Grand Marquis
I'm currently shopping the market for a used car and I want it to be a Grand Marquis and so far I've seen some pretty nice ones but they're not in my budget range. Anyway, I've found a 2001 Grand Marquis LS on Craigslist for $3,500 with 95,000 miles on it. They guy selling it said he'd drop $500 cause it idles rough on cold mornings when first started. Does this sound like a good deal? I would obviously have my mechanic look at it first before buying it but just wanted to know if buying this car with 95,000 miles on it and a rough idle on cold mornings is worth it? Thanks for any help.

I can offer you this info; I purchased a 2001 Grand Marquis a few months ago, the body was in excellent condition, the interior was in excellent condition and mechanically seemed to be in excellent condition. I paid $3800.00 for this car and since have installed new spark plugs, changed the oil and filter, did brakes all around, replaced left upper ball joint, replaced all 4 tires (not really needed but wanted new). So I have invested about another $1500.00 into this car and do not regret one cent I spent. This is a great car, big, roomy, rides better than a new Mercedes. Oh and it has 165,000 miles on it. The motor runs perfectly, quiet and strong. So my advice is if this car is clean and solid and have a mechanic determine that the rough idle problem is minor and can be resolved you won't be disappointed with this car at that price.
