I have a 2007 Grand Marquis with the standard grade leather-wrapped steering wheel. I'm interested in replacing this with the leather-and-wood steering wheel with redundant temperature and audio controls.

Would be a straightforward swap, where all I'd have to do would be plug the new one into the wiring harness? Or is there a higher degree of customization between different harnesses, control modules, and such that would make this a tremendous hassle?

Any advice would be appreciated.

 

If it's already wired for the audio controls, it would be a straight swap. If you have the factory stereo that's the same as models with those controls, it might already be wired that way and you'll just have to take the precautions with the airbag system so as not to kill yourself with an accidental discharge. If it's not already wired, you'll just have to source the additional harness for the temp and audio controls and then find where they plug in behind the dash.
