Idle Problem
#11
Thanks for the advice. But where can I find the IAC? Also how do I go about and change the idle. I've had my Mercury for almost two years now. I'm just 19 years old, but I love working in my car. < src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-45";

the IAC is locaed by the throttlebody area. here is a link to the site for the IAC. it is best to go with the Ford since the cheaper ones arent good for anything except paperweights.new from ford is around $150... so this is cheapest i know of for the Ford IAC.

the IAC is located under emissions as a Idle Air Control Valve... hope this helps.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I''m having the same sort of problem with my 95 GM. The check engine code says that there is excessive EGR flow, but I replaced it about 4 months ago when I cleaned all the passage ways and replaced plugs and wires. Could it be the IAC causing the engine code to say excessive EGR flow?

possibly. you may want to check that the egr valve isn''t just stuck open too... or that the vacuum line to it has the proper routing and working check valves if any. if it''s an electric valve, it may have died. hopefully it''s still under warranty and you can just swap it out if it has died on you.

Thanks for the info slymer. I actually misremembered (ha!) and I did not replace the EGR last time because it was still good. I replaced the DPFE sensor. I''m going to pull vacuum on the valve at idle and see if it runs rough. Am I correct assuming that the IAC has a direct line to the EGR? If so, I''m going to replace the IAC and see if that is the issue. There really isn''t anything left for me to replace I suppose!
