95 Sable 3.0 The hose/tube/hose to heater leaks
There is a clamped collar on each end of the curved hose where it joins the tube that prevents using the common band/screw clamp (I tried it anyway - but still leaks water I'm using rather than coolant).
I haven't talked to the Ford dealer on Howe in Sacto yet without info from this forum. I have a 95 Sable 3.0 gls that was my mother's car - she had the foresight to get an extended warranty before the trans failed
- it's a good trans.
Took a recent pic of the area and there is a metal Y that has coolant input from the thermostat and output to the heater in the line going to the water pump. Looks like it's the heater input that is leaking.
I wasn't able to get my smog test done- so I nopped - am annoyed at the additional cost for 95 and older ($30 vs 2 years ago $20 on top of $39.75 +8.25 coupon). :-(
Is nitrogen for the canister test that expensive- probably not.
This is my backup car to my 2013 Elantra. I could have blocked off the heater output and had a smog test - but I'm saving money.
When I replaced my water pump - didn't disturb this area - so was surprised it leaked there.
The bottom curved hose with black tape and screw clamp goes to the heater (which leaks). The straight connection is from thermostat.
